By now most of you have gotten the email: TE Browser is now LIVE!
I don’t know about you, but I am not ready to run out and install some browser that I know nothing about other than the developers being traffic exchange owners. Has it been beta tested? Where’s the data? Has it passed scrutiny for security vulnerabilities? Not too comforting a thought is it? Not when you sit back and realize how many YEARS have been put into browsers such as Firefox, IE and Google Chrome. And they are still developing on a daily basis to address bugs and security issues as they come up. (Funny….as I am writing this I am getting a popup that Firefox 3.6 is here and ready for download…..case in point…)
The first red flag should be that as far as I can see, there is no method of bug reporting. So I guess I have to assume they have just developed a downline building browser and save for adding or deleting TEs as necessary, there is no vehicle for critical updates.
Yet, the pre launch hype will have everyone clambering to be one of the first to download it, set it up and promote it. But let’s explore that prospect for the general user why don’t we…….
The tsunami of emails from traffic Exchange Owners announcing the launch has begun and no doubt THEY will be the recipients of the majority of downlines built (and commissions earned if there is an upgrade scenario) just for the shear amount of people they can reach in a short period of time. What benefit do you think you will find promoting this in any TE when no doubt every member of just about every TE out there has already been informed of TE Browser and is likely (if they are brave enough to actually us it on their PC) already in someone’s downline.
So, now you have yet another diversion from your focus of promoting and advertising YOUR products or services based on a promise of HUGE downlines which in reality have already been snapped up in the first few days. Let’s not forget this was in a period of “pre-launch” as well, where certain privileged individuals were given the opportunity to promote it before the official launch with their embedded referral ID. So bottom line is, it’s already out to the masses.
If you find it useful to surf exchanges, then so be it. But don’t be fooled by the promise of hoards of traffic when they’ve already consumed most of it for themselves. If you are looking for great tools to surf with, they are already out there with tabbed browsing and grouped bookmarks available with IE, Firefox and Google Chrome.
I do suggest that if you plan on using TE Browser, make sure you have a current and working Anti Virus and Malware suite in place because I don’t know anyone that can predict what the vulnerabilities are.
Personally, I use ESET’s NOD32 which in my opinion is hands down the best protection you could ever have running on your PC or laptop…

Very good article!
I’m the owner and creator of TE Browser.
It is Internet Explorer shell so it takes the security of IE.
No matter the browser there is always a risk of virus infection.
I get trojan warnings from my antivirus program when i use Firefox too.
So i always recommend people to use antivirus/firewall program. The security and the protection should be centralized and not program-specific.
I have tested about 20 antivirus/firewall programs and for me the best is Kaspersky IS 2010.

Forget to mention… he prelaunch was made from me and my JV partners, the creators of the site.
We need a base to start. Users who can promote.
In the prelaunch we signed up about 400 active users. For the last 2 days the site got 40k unique visitors. So there is big room for refering new members and this is what is happening at the moment.

Stanil,
Thanks for posting your comments and addressing what is likely valid concerns for many of us out there.
It’s good to hear that you are using an IE shell but I think even you would agree, that just using an IE Shell does not automatically guarantee the same security as IE itself. But knowing your experience as a developer, I am confident you are dedicated to insuring it’s a safe product to use.
As far as the referrals issue, I did not mean to imply that there is no room for users to build a downline, but numbers being numbers and percentages being percentages, I am willing to bet (and I am sure you won’t disagree) that a larger percentage of your referrals are tied to downlines of Traffic Exchange Owners and high volume list owners rather than the “average joe” traffic exchange user. Sure, there may be that exception or two to the rule but in general I think my assessment is fairly accurate.
Finally, I’ve heard Kaspersky is a great Anti-Virus but if it’s giving you false trojan warnings (a familiar trait to you Norton and McAffee users) then maybe you should give ESET NOD32 a spin

I can’t believe somebody like yourself can make an assumption without even thinking the process thru. If that is all it takes to stop somebody from promoting anything well I can see a dead end street for anybody with those thoughts.
When one talks against a new product without trying first is not only hurting themselves but many others.
I have surfed well over a million pages using the tebrowser. Some how Stanil got 99.9% of popups stoped. This alone kills must security issues. Also by using IE there is a setting that stops forced downloads unlike firefox or any of the others.
As far as promoting there is still large amounts of misled people that need to know te programs work if worked. Also many misled people do not understand the importance of building viral traffic first.
The te browser should be a no brainer for everyone that wants to build a work at home business. Oh yea I was one of the beta testers Stanil is the man to make a security a top issue is all I am saying.
There has to be millions of people that need the te browser to build there business. The surface has only been scratched.
Wishing everyone luck,
Nick Anderson

I think you’ve missed the point Nick….
First of all, the “quote” you posted really has nothing to do with what you then went on to comment about.
The issue of TE owners snagging all the downlines by shamelessly promoting their COMPETITION, has not much to do with whether or not TEs are effective or not………
2 completely different issues……
And as far as TE Browser……..you are responding to a post made when it first came out…….and while now I think it’s proven itself, at the time, Stanil did not do a very good job initially, letting people know if it were tested, if it was secure etc…………but he did so in his post……
There have been many “browser” products that were released to the masses that wound up being virus laden with security holes opening doors to the users systems……..and those that download and use them need to be aware of the risks………..
