A year ago I got my first Blackberry Curve and thought I was finally connected to my daily business in every way.
But a few weeks ago I switched into the android world with a new Samsung Moment.
Folks, I was a big Blackberry fan but this switch to android was like night and day! Gone was the culture of “secret operating system” leaks and releases, gone is the inferior Blackberry browser, gone is the settings and compatibility nightmares. If you want to really see how inferior Blackberry and their apps are….try some of the same apps (authored by same developers) that you have on Blackberry on an android phone.
Apps are installed and uninstalled in seconds…..no more re-booting! And, no more battery pulls to keep phone working correctly.
As far as the android market, there are literally thousands of apps with most of them being free but paid apps are all under $5 for the most part.
And of course, there’s the integration of Google. Say what you want about Google, but when you use Google to its full potential and sync everything together between phone and PC, you have real power in the palm of your hands.
I am still new to the “droid” so I am still learning how powerful this platform really is. So, as I become more proficient I will post updates to the advantages I find!
Now many of you probably think that the droid phone is just too expensive. But not so in my case. Sprint allowed me to upgrade for only $99 and I was able to sell my BB Curve on ebay for $96. So my upgrade cost me all of $3! Sure I had to extend my contract for 2 years but in my case I’ve been with Sprint for almost a decade so it didn’t matter.
If you want to check your Cellular Phone Upgrade options no matter what carrier you have, you can call 866-813-9716 and use call code 131442 or you can go here and select “Upgrade Your Phone” from left side menu (carriers participating are listed). Regardless of what provider you use, they can give you your eligibility, cost of upgrade and options etc. It’s really worth a phone call. Before I called I thought I was going to have to wait out my existing contract or pay the retail price of over $400 to move up to a droid phone. Thanks to one call found out I could do it all for less than $100!
