By now you’ve noticed this is one of my pet peeves…

The usual list of “unscrupulous” list marketers are at it again….selling yet another plugin for WordPress which you can find FREE at the WordPress.org plugin directory.  This time it’s WPOptinForm, which they would like you to pay $9.97 or more for!  Yet, aside from a few optin form templates (oh wait, those are from Aweber so they are not even providing that!), you can get similar plugins absolutely FREE in the plugins directory.

They will undoubtedly claim that the plugins available for free don’t automatically send updates to your list every time you make a post (of course this feature is ALSO only if you use Aweber) but if you’re an active blogger, trust me, you won’t want that happening unless you like seeing your subscribers leaving your list in droves!

So basically, if you don’t use Aweber (or if you don’t signup for Aweber from their conveniently provided link) this plugin is essentially USELESS!  In additon to the $9.97 you will now have to spend $19+ per month for Aweber.  Making this plugin a whopping $212 per year to use!  Pretty steep for an optin form huh?

Frankly I can’t believe ANYONE is still buying plugins from these guys given the track record of almost every one being available free from other sources.  But hey, I guess if there are those that have money burning a hole in their pockets, more power to you.

I’ll give the same advice I give on EVERY one of these plugins……search the WordPress.org Plugin Directory before you lay out the cash…you’ll likely find exactly what your looking for….

You may recall we talked previously about some of the list marketers pushing WordPress plugins that were actually available free or repackaging other plugins they’ve sold in the past with new name and new hype.

Just received an email today hyping up a “fire sale” called the WordPress Maniac….any bets on what it will include?  Let’s see, WP Paypal Button Generator, WP Footer, Micro Member, WP incentive, WP Sales Page Themes, WP Multiple Stream Theme, WP Exit, WP OTO….

I am sure there are more, but let’s see how many of my examples are on the list!

I guess in the quest to pump out products for a buck, instead of creating something original or finding something new, it’s time to just start cranking out re-hashed old products…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the WP Plugins offered for sale are very often available for free with a quick search in the WordPress.org plugin directory, so before dropping $37 on a fire sale package, make sure you’re getting plugins that you can’t find anywhere else for free and that, most importantly, actually do something that will give you immediate benefits…

Now I may be proven wrong when this is launched tomorrow, but I bet I’m pretty close…

Well for the most part I was correct.  So I missed on some really crappy how to video series and a couple of other worthless titles….

I did some Googling and you can get just about every thing on the WordPress Maniac package can be had for about $17 (factoring other site with similar products and the bonuses they offer).  Far less than the $37 they would have you pay here (if your one of their first 50….after that you would pay more????)
